Vivo metamorfosicamente.
Saio lentamente de mim;
onde estava, não há mais nada.
Porque o que havia era eu.
Agora que sou algo novo,
o que se fará do que era?
Fina como papel,
partirá com o vento,
transitória lembrança que foi.
Minha pele, vestido,
máscara e armadura,
desintegrar-se-á
em memória.

Suspiro, no frio, embalado
em passado e lembranças.
Tenho a mim,
mas prefiro não ter.
De que vale o Sol meio-dia
se chover?

Me faço agora e para sempre,
infinitamente diferente.
Folha na árvore,
raio de sol.
Raiz na terra,
ave no céu.
Eu me devoro,
torno-me Eu.
Um ainda que muitos,
como um dia o tempo dirá.

Ecdysis (English Translation)

Metamorphosically I live.
Slowly, I emerge out of me;
Where I was, nothing lingers.
Because what was there was me.
Now I am something new,
what shall be done of what was?
Thin as paper,
with the wind will leave,
transient memory that it was.
My skin, garb,
mask and armor,
shall disintegrate
into past.

I sigh, in the cold, cradled
in time and remembrance.
I have myself,
yet I’d rather not.
What’s the sun worth at noon,
if it rains?

I make myself, now and forever,
infinitely alternating.
Leaf on the tree
sunshine on the ground.
Root in the earth,
heron in the sky.
I devour myself,
turn myself to Me.
One yet many,
as time one day will tell.
