Persephone’s Arrival

The scarlet horizon melted into a dream
burned by the rising sun
and
carried away across the sea
and
led astray through twisted paths

A season of the past
sick with spring fever
nurtured to rise, to bloom in the light
emerging like a newborn


A calm voice spoke
singing a warm song, a scented symphony for every witness
caressing each part
long-frozen
it washed away the blurred shadows
coming home
alive

Kim Völker is an 18-year old poet from Bremen, Germany. She graduated from high school last year and is now working as an apprentince in a health insurance company. Her poems have been published in various anthologies by Train River Publishing.
