A Traveler's Dilemma
Franklin Yorm, Ghana
Scalds of unfulfillment pursue me
Yet I’m as unmoving as a rock
In such persistence I’m but a fool
For I know where to find the succour I crave
Why then, do I gladly welcome grief
I do, on account of another kind of longing
The embraces and fondness of my kin
An anchor I just can’t seem to lift
I’m no longer captain of my vessel
For home seems to be where love exists
Yet, the grief I entertain continues to raze
Should I succumb to fulfillment or continue to endure
If death is but an assured ending for such anguish
Do I stay and wait for that which is inevitable
Or do I follow fulfillment to the very ends of the earth
Do I die a selfless man or do I embrace what seems my destiny
