Ever Since Forever
Ariana KM, Bangladesh
Your friends keep shoving you new flings
And I suppose that's a good thing
My friends try to keep you out of my wing
And I suppose that's a good thing
I danced with some stranger on the night floor
Quietly glancing at the crowded door
Wandering through the thousand strange souls
Searching for the one who knew my heartbeat the most
Praying to the blazing sky you'd be here tonight
To witness a living love without a life
I know leaves turn and I know bridges burn
I know Eden bonds that were left undone
But I had hoped at least you'd be
Here with me on New Year's Eve
I know everything's wrong with me
That's why I've said a million "sorry"s
The fact is I can give no guarantee
Of your convictions if you come with me
And in the mass echoes of laughter
I can't hear the sweetest one
The idea of your presence
Has my heart go through wonders
More than seven to begin
The air fills up the place you're supposed to
And I miss your shadow beside me, disappearing after noon
Like the sunlight chasing after the moon
Catching its beauty then disappearing soon
(Five!)
The weight on my shoulders crushing the ground
(Four!)
'Cause I know I won't see you around
(Three!)
A bittersweet smell lingering from our last memories of bliss
(Two!)
So many mouths talking, but not a single pair of lips I'd kiss
(One!)
But if you could be here, I'd say
Beloved stranger, happy New Year
My heart's adored you ever since forever
(Happy New Year!)
I find it such a strange thing that I may never see you again
Maybe only through pictures, among millions of other strangers
But I think I understand why no one expects destinations from a mad girl
Who drives wrong roads, off of cliffs and hangers
But I swear, I could've been better
'Cause I've loved you ever since forever
I know leaves turn and I know I should've learned
That heavenwards flying bonds burn near the sun
Shouldn't have hoped at least you'd be
There with me on New Year's Eve
No, you won't be there with me
On New Year's Eve
In my heart, you were there with me
On New Year's Eve
