For You
Anik Khan, Bangladesh
We transported ourselves to our moments of dreams and hopes;
A dock with a sunrise view-
Watching the whole world light up one moment at a time,
Or chasing each other in the rain-
Spraying water and then
Laughing uncontrollably,
Lighting an extra sparkler for you to hold with me,
Or rushing to get the flower for you that would not stay bloomed for long,
That scoop of ice cream or that slice of mango for you, for you,
For you,
We said it in our minds.
Or that message sent in whispers to the water of the big lake,
Sprayed away from cupped hands for it to be carried all the way by the wind to wherever you are-
A hug you said.
