Going the Distance: Dissecting Persona and Who We Are on the Page

Join us on Sunday, November 5th at 10 am PST for a digital writing workshop with acclaimed essayist Gyasi Hall! Gyasi will lead us in a discussion about the inherent difficulties of translating our own thoughts and experiences onto our writing, and we’ll explore what kinds of exciting opportunities come from embracing experimentation, play, and the limits of our own perception. How do you make your obsessions/experiences accessible for readers who don’t know you? What kinds of things go into crafting “style” and “voice”? How does one render three-dimensional people on the page, especially when they stem from the faultiness of memory or a limited point of view? Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome!
