Don’t Focus on Me
Distant Memories
I made these drawings as a way to recall old memories. Created in an out of focused, blurry style these drawings represent old memories, brought back to life as a way to reprise them. Don't Focus on Me was a self portrait, made with line work that gave the impression of blur. Distant memories, was created after my home town, in a street I once grew up. I try to give off a melancholic feeling with these pencil drawings. A way to reprise old memories I have. As memories become older, you can't remember details, and all you are left with is a sense of place or person.
I created my first blurry drawing by mistake, but through the mistake, I realized I can pursue this art style, and create more drawings of a blurry nature. Day to day life goes by with people you know, and places you have seen. Everything starts to mold together into this one feeling you have of the street you grew up in, or the reflection you see in the mirror daily.
Growing up in the south east of Ireland, Antrey had developed a way to showcase his ideas through pencil on paper. His biggest inspiration is describing his early life in Wexford town, through visual art, oftentimes using the style of blurry scenes as a way to represent memory.
